Talking about this, Sargeant stated, “You started watching Formula 1 back when Lewis [Hamilton] and Felipe Massa were battling for the championship in 2008. I’d wake up early to watch the races. Then I moved to Europe, so the races were finally on at a more normal time for me.”

The 2008 F1 season saw Hamilton and Massa fight it out for glory throughout the season. The season-ending race in Brazil made Massa the champion for 38 seconds until the then-McLaren driver crossed the finish line and snatched the championship back in his favor.

Logan Sargeant reveals why he pursued F1

Logan Sargeant is from a country where Formula 1 wasn’t very popular until recent times. A country that is famous for the NBA, MLB, and, of course, NASCAR. The US is currently witnessing a sharp rise in the F1 fanbase, thanks to Netflix’s Drive to Survive and social media.

When asked the reason why he pursued F1 despite being a not-so-popular sport in his country back in the days, Sargeant conveyed, “Because it’s simply the pinnacle of motorsport. It’s where competitiveness is at its highest and where the best drivers in the world are.”

Any kid’s dream is to reach the top of whatever they’re doing, so I’d say that’s what attracted me to it,” stated the brother of Dalton Sargeant. Williams announced Sargeant as Nicholas Latifi’s replacement for the upcoming season in October 2022.
